Supply-chain reports indicate that Apple will be launching a 32 and a 37-inch dedicated Apple televisions in the second or third quarter of 2012. According to a DigiTimes report, the televisions will be running on A5 chips comparable to those currently found in the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, and will be using displays made by Sharp.
We’ve been hearing rumblings about a new Apple-branded HDTV for a while now. Apple has offered a set-top box for several years, but as more and more television manufacturers start to incorporate streaming and web capabilities into their actual televisions, Apple will need to release its own TV in order to stay current in the market.
The Apple-branded televisions are expected to cost close to twice the price of other comparably-sized televisions, and 32 and 37-inches are a little on the small side given the monsters we’ve started to see pop up in stores. If Apple does in fact decide to release televisions in just these two sizes, it will be interesting to see how the company markets them to pull people away from their 55-inch LCD and Plasma screens.
What do you think? Would you be interested in an Apple-branded television? What size would you want to buy? How much would you be willing to pay for it?
