Weekly Gaming Poll: What’s Your Game of the Year?

by Joey Davidson | December 16, 2011December 16, 2011 9:00 pm PDT

Welcome to this brand-spankin’-new TechnoBuffalo feature we’re going to try and run once every week. We’ve got ourselves an outstanding, talkative community and we’re looking to harness that and spur it along with a weekly debate topic.

So, every Friday, I’ll toss up a debatable challenge, you folks will vote and discuss. I’ll also be posting the results of the previous week’s poll with a little editorialization.

As 2011 enters its final phases, and before all of you disappear into your various winter homes for the holiday, we wanted to give you folks a platform for chatting about the game of the year.

We’ll be doing our own best games of the year post before 2011 officially expires. We imagine your choices will conflict with ours, but, hey, that’s what breeds the best discussions.

Before you tell us your favorite game of 2011, let’s take a gander at last week’s poll and results.

The lovers have it by a huge margin.

It’s worth noting that a lot of users are complaining about the bogus “improvements” upon key apps. For instance, party viewing is missing entirely from the Netflix app, taking the social out of TV and movies.

For me, the dashboard update doesn’t do much to excite. Sure, I like logging in and seeing something new; but, in the end, I use my consoles for the content. I fire it up and I play games or watch movies, that’s it. As long as I can buy DLC easily, I’m good to go. This update brings me those things, so I’m fine.

Maybe I’ll feel differently when I have a Kinect and can tell my Xbox 360 to make me a sandwich.

Time for this week’s poll!

Rather than create a full-on voting widget packing every single game that released in 2011, I’ll ask that you folks comment on this article with your pick. When it comes time to run next week’s poll with this week’s results, I’ll add the votes up and rank the Top 5.

What’s your game of the year for 2011?
