We think the Asus Transformer Prime is by far the best Android tablet yet, but there is some room for improvement, especially when it comes to software. That’s because the Transformer Prime will be shipping with Android 3.2 Gingerbread — not Google’s latest Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. But that could be about to change next month.
According to Digital Versus, internal sources have confirmed that the Android 4.0 update will be available for the Transformer Prime in January 2012 — very soon after its launch in the U.S. The much-anticipated device is currently available to pre-order through a number of retailers, with shipping expected to begin later this month, or in early January.
For those of us in the U.K., there’s still no news on when the Transformer Prime will make its way across the Atlantic. However, recent reports have suggested it will arrive during the first quarter of 2012, so we shouldn’t have too long to wait. At least when it does ship here, it should be running Ice Cream Sandwich straight out of the box.
Are you looking forward to Ice Cream Sandwich on the Asus Transformer Prime?
