Barnes & Noble Updates The Nook Color

by Emily Price | December 12, 2011December 12, 2011 9:00 am PST

Nook ColorAs promised at the launch of the Nook Tablet, Barnes & Noble has issued a software update for the Nook Color, bringing Netflix and Flixster to the device, and giving owners access to Nook Comics and PagePerfect Nook Books.

In total the update “adds more than 100 feature enhancements” further blurring the line between the e-reader and its slightly more expensive tablet sibling.

Nook Comics gives Color owners access to Barnes & Noble’s library of full-color comics, PagePerfect gives users a little more control over how they view content, and the Netflix and Flixter app additions give uses access to those apps, but not their content. For instance, if you want to watch Netflix movies on your Nook Color you’ll have to pony up for a Netflix streaming account.

If you own a Nook Color, you can download the update here and sideload it onto your e-reader, or wait for the OTA update which is expected to roll out later on this week.

Anyone already downloaded the update? What do you think?
