No doubt, there are plenty of people who love that iOS 5 was jailbroken so swiftly. Well, except for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users — they’re still waiting. But even for those who rocked Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze, there’s still a pesky issue: Given the lack of an untethered jailbreak, every time the device powers off for any reason, it has to be connected to a computer. It’s as if those gadgets are being held hostage, whispering, “Please liberate me!”
There, there, little i-device. The hackers are working as hard as they can. In fact, Pod2g has something to show us — a little video he made demo’ing his untethered hack. It features a new exploit on an iPod Touch running iOS 5.
The clip clearly shows that the gadget remains jailbroken even after being switched on and off. The big question is, would it run on iOS 5.0.1? That remains to be seen, but I know a lot of people who’d be willing to downgrade for this. Actually, the even bigger question is, when could it be released?
Are you an iOS user itching to get your hands on this? Did you go the tethered jailbreak route, or did you stave off the temptation, waiting for the full untethered monty? Weigh in.
