Following the rollout of its new Xbox dashboard yesterday, Microsoft has launched a new Xbox LIVE mobile application for iOS users that allows them to track and compare achievements, connect with Xbox LIVE friends, customize their avatar and more.
It’s called My Xbox LIVE, and it’s available to download from the App Store now for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Microsoft says that with this app installed, you can “take your Xbox LIVE experience wherever you go”:
Take your Xbox LIVE experience wherever you go with the My Xbox LIVE app. Track and compare your achievements, connect with your Xbox LIVE friends, and change up your 3D Avatar. Review all your recent great games you and your friends love to play and compare achievements with them. Jump into our games hub to learn about the latest LIVE games and apps. Access Xbox Spotlight feeds, get breaking news from Xbox LIVE, game tips and tricks, gamer spotlight and much more.
The application is divided up into three categories: Home, which is where you’ll find Xbox Spotlight feeds; Social, which is where you’ll find your friends, messages, and avatar; and Games, which is where you can track your achievements.
I’ve been using the My Xbox LIVE app for a little while this morning, and I think it’s fantastic. Not only does it provide quick and easy access to your Xbox LIVE account — in a much nicer way than third-party apps — but it also gives you a little taster of Microsoft’s Windows Phone user interface. Which, I have to say, makes me want a Windows Phone device even more.
What do you think of the My Xbox LIVE app?
