It looks like HP is holding round two of its $99 TouchPad fire sale starting Sunday, December 11 at 6:00 pm CST. Cue “The Final Countdown” by Europe, because these may be the last batch we’ll ever see. The sale will be held through HP’s eBay store (where else? Meg Whitman was former CEO of the online auction website), but this time, the TouchPads going up are refurbished models, not new like the previous fire sale.
Just last week, Meg Whitman said she’d soon give her final verdict about what HP is going to do with the Palm developed WebOS. Keep it? Sell it? Keep putting it off? The consensus among the Buffalo herd seems to be that HP should license it out to hardware makers. I think that’s the general feeling around the tech industry. If HP (or another company) can refine and push the OS forward, it could potentially become a dark horse in the fiercely competitive mobile world.
In any case, get your clicking fingers ready, Buffalo, and prepare to say goodbye to the TouchPad once and for all. This is one heck of a deal, and they’re sure to sell like hot cakes.
Do you think you’ll try and get a TouchPad? Check out HP’s eBay store this Sunday.
