Verizon LTE Network Down Nationwide, No Timeline on a Fix

Verizon 4G LTE

Apparently it’s not a good day for networks. First Xbox LIVE went down, and now its the Verizon LTE network has gone down nationwide.

Reports are coming in from all over that the the Verizon 4G LTE network is down, but the potentially even worse news is that no sort of timeline has been given as to when it may be back up.  The carrier has issued the following statement:

Verizon Wireless engineers have been working to resolve an issue with 4GLTE service that is affecting some customers’ 4G devices. 3G data and voice devices are unaffected. All customers’ voice calls and text messages continue to go through. In the past 24 hours, some 4GLTE customers have reported their devices are operating on 3G data service where they would normally get 4G. Some have reported no issues, others that data access is either intermittent or unavailable. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

This isn’t the first time Verizon has had issues with its LTE network, the last one was just before the launch of the Droid Charge and ended up delaying the release of that phone.  There are more cities coming up on the 4G roadmap in the not so distant future, so hopefully whatever it is that keeps causing these outages will soon be figured out to keep more people from suffering the same fate.
