A woman at an LA Walmart decided that the best weapon to fight holiday shopping crowds yesterday was pepper spray, spraying the crowd in front of her in order to get an Xbox 360.
From a shopper, Alejandra Seminario, on the scene:
People started screaming, pulling and pushing each other, and then the whole area filled up with pepper spray” the Sylmar resident said.
The pepper spray wafted through the air, Seminario said, and she breathed some in and started coughing. Her face also started itching.
“After we paid, we saw five that were in really bad shape,” she said. “They had been sprayed in the face, it looked like, and they had swelling of the face, really extreme swelling of face, redness, coughing.”
Even better, the Walmart was so busy that the woman was able to actually do her shopping after spraying the crowd, and leave the store before police arrived on the scene. The police are reportedly looking at footage from the store to try and indentify the suspect.
Pepper spraying the crowd wasn’t the only off-the-wall shopping experience that happened yesterday, a shopper at a Walmart in NC brought a gun to the store are started firing shots, and several other fighting and weapon incidents have been reported throughout the country.
I make it a point to go nowhere near shopping areas on Black Friday, specifically for situations like this. Did any of you brave the crowds? See any extreme shopping during your travels, or do anything extreme to get the deals you were after?
