Hundreds of Disney movies are on their way to YouTube. The companies announced plans today to bring “hundreds” of Walt Disney Studio films to YouTube Movies, YouTube’s less than one-year-old service that offers web-based movie and TV show rentals typically for $.99.
The new Walt Disney Studio rentals will initially only be available for YouTube and Google TV users in the U.S. and Canada and will start with first only a few titles, with plans to expand the offerings in the near future with classic titles such as Alice in Wonderland, and new hits like Pirates of the Caribbean. The service already includes movies by Sony Pictures, Universal and Warner Brothers.
Earlier this month YouTube announced a separate partnership with Disney to create a web series geared towards kids for YouTube.
