Well, well, well. It seems like the ASUS’s monstrous Eee Pad Transformer Prime is edging closer to release – happy holidays! The Tegra 3-equipped device has teased us over the past month, but nothing in the way of a release date was ever officially announced. This is the next best thing – it’s now up for pre-order.
When the Transformer Prime was announced earlier this month, we were very candid about our feelings for the device and what Tegra 3 could mean for the future of mobile technology. If it performs the way we hope, it will easily be the best tablet experience on the market.
To get you up to speed, the Transformer Prime comes packed with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.2 megapixel camera on the front, 10.1-inch multitouch Gorilla Glass display, mini-HDMI port and SD card reader. And that Tegra-3? It’ll get you “an industry-leading 12 hours of battery for HD playback… up to 61 percent lower power consumption,” according to Nvidia. The only bummer of it is the Prime comes loaded with Android 3.2, but it’ll be upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich in the future. In fact, we got a sneak peek of what that experience will be like just yesterday.
While the estimated arrival pegs it down to sometime in December, we’ll be sure to let you know an exact date when we find out. It would sure be a nice gadget to play with this holiday season!
What are you waiting for, Buffalo? We, for one, cannot wait. Are you excited?
