BlackBerry PlayBook Now $199 for a “Limited Time”

by Emily Price | November 21, 2011November 21, 2011 8:00 am PDT

It’s official, the BlackBerry PlayBook is now priced at a mere $199. We heard rumors of a PlayBook price drop last week, and today RIM made the move official with a tweet dropping the price to $199 “at select US & Canadian retailers.”

Retailers specifically include: Walmart, BestBuy, Staples, Radio Shack, Office Depot, Office Max, and BlackBerry from Wireless Giant stores.

The PlayBook has not been nearly as successful as RIM originally hoped. While the price drop is listed as a “limited time” offering, we wouldn’t be surprised if RIM made that “limited time” until they were able to sell out of existing tablets.

What do you think? Are any of you considering picking up a $199 PlayBook?
