It was announced this morning that the Kindle Fire would begin shipping today, a day earlier than was previously scheduled. While not a major move in the schedule, it is still a welcome one for those who have eagerly been awaiting the company’s first tablet. Not to be outdone, the Kindle Touch, the first e-ink device from Amazon that features a touchscreen, will begin shipping tomorrow, a full six days ahead of schedule.
Both announcements were made official via press releases from Amazon this morning, but we’re not sure if someone at the company may have hit the wrong button at the wrong time. Our own Jon Rettinger got an order update at 11:40 PM PST last night that his Kindle Touch would be shipping this week. No word as of yet if the Kindle Fire units ordered by our staff will be shipping today, but I’m sure several of us our anxiously watching our inboxes for the notice.
