Android fans here in the U.K. can’t wait to sink their teeth into Ice Cream Sandwich, which will ship first on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The device was set to hit British shores on November 17 — just next week — but may be delayed until December 2.
Although Samsung is yet to issue an official statement, Amazon’s U.K. website has changed to read: “This item is due to be released on December 2, 2011.” It previously stated the device would arrive next week.
Of course, it could be that Amazon’s stock is delayed, and that carriers will still receive the device on November 17. Android fans will be hoping this is that case, and that they don’t have to wait another two weeks to experience Android 4.0.
Amazon has the SIM-free Galaxy Nexus priced at £549.99 (approx. $875.63), which is certainly a little on the expensive side. That’s unlikely to prevent the device from becoming incredibly popular, however. In addition to its Ice Cream Sandwich OS, the Galaxy Nexus boasts some impressive internals, such as a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera, and a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display.
We’ve contacted Samsung for an official statement and we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
Will you be disappointed if the Galaxy Nexus gets delayed in the U.K.?
