Apple today released their first iOS 5 update, iOS 5.0.1. The software promises a fix for battery life issues that have plagued iPhone users since the latest generation of the operating system was released. In addition to battery life fixes, iOS 5.0.1 brings multitasking gesture support to the original iPad, stomps bugs related to Documents in the Cloud, and improves voice recognition support for Australian users.
Insert lame “G’Day … Shrimp on the barbie!” joke here.
The update is available over the air or via iTunes to the following devices: iPhone 3GS/4/4S, iPad/iPad 2, iPod Touch 3rd/4th generation. Apple seems to be rolling the OTA update out in phases, as Sean’s 4S received his in Missouri while my 4 in California has not yet been offered entry into the club (as of 10:45 AM PDT).
Any of you installed the update yet? Notice any battery life – or other performance – improvements? Or new bugs? Share your findings in the comments, won’t you?
