Yahoo! LivestandAs if there weren’t a million and one reasons to own an iPad already, Yahoo! is giving us another, or so they say. The company announced the availability of Livestand, a personalized live magazine app that promises to “redefine what digital media can be.”

Tablets are profoundly changing how we interact with media, and Livestand captures that shift in a deeply personal and imaginative new experience, said Blake Irving, EVP and chief product officer at Yahoo!. No one does personalization better than Yahoo!. The technology behind Livestand, combined with its stunning design and fantastic variety of content, redefines what digital media can be.

The app offers more than 100 titles and topics from Yahoo!’s global media network, including such third-party publishers like Forbes, ABC News, Bonnier and Source, and Source Interlink Media; Consumer Reports, Gawker and Mashable are also a part of Livestand’s third-party publisher content.

If you’ve ever used Flipboard, Livestand will offer a similar experience backed by Yahoo!’s robust network. The app will curate content tailored to each individual user, with new articles, videos and photo galleries continually updating, as well as a number of personalization features, including Personal Mix, News for You, and Yahoo! Today.

Yahoo! Livestand is available in the iOS App Store as a free application.

What do you guys think of the app?
