This actually marks the first time that I’ve had more than a passing interest in PlayStation Home. While I know that the service for the PlayStation 3 does have its own set of fans, the entire package was something I installed and tried only a handful of times before moving on.
That was, to be honest, several years ago. Moreover, I’ll admit that I have not given Home a fair shake with a recent revisit. Still, I know from chatting with other gamers that most see Home as a mindless distraction from having good fun on their consoles. For a lot of folks, Home is actually not worth the time it takes to update and launch whenever they find themselves in the mood to give it a go.
With that in mind, Sony is looking to correct that perception as they inch closer to launching their brand new PlayStation Home redesign. With it, they’re bringing a whole slew of games, content, new areas and ideas for gamers to explore, and most of it will stand for free. Here’s Jack Buser, Director of PlayStation Home, from the PlayStation Blog with some of what you can expect from the redesign:
“For example, in the Action District, you’ll be able to enjoy the free and exclusive first-person shooter game that runs inside Home itself, Bootleggers ’29. We’ll also be bringing back some of your favorite Total Game Integration events here such as Dead Island and Killzone 3, as well as feature teleporters to popular games such as Sodium.”
An exactly release date for this redesign has not been hammered down by Sony. The blog post, however, indicates that it won’t be long until gamers will be able to give this content a look. We’ll have more as it comes.
That guy from the video up top sounds really intense about Home … right?
