Activision, Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward have put out yet another behind-the-scenes video that shows off the multiplayer component of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. This time around, the team is talking new modes and match customization.
I’ll say this: with all this multiplayer hype, I’m actually starting to fear the team’s lack of emphasis on the single player campaign. Could we be looking at another game that places way more importance on the competitive component of its offerings than the single player side? I hope not.
In regards to the video above itself, here’s a quick thought…
Kill Confirmed actually looks like a brilliant game type for players like myself. I hate it when snipers pick a corner of the map and fire rounds at players actively working to canvas the area and earn kills without camping. By making players pick up dog tags in order to score points for the round, campers become effectively useless. Kill me from across the map? Fine, but my buddies will just pick up my tag and keep the game rolling in our favor.
Finally, the addition of a fully customizable private match option is one that most fans will welcome with open arms. We suppose the only complaint worth tossing out in front of the news is that it didn’t come sooner. We love it when games give you the option to play however you want to play, so we’ll take the bonus. We do wish, however, that we could tweak things like weapon strength, gravity and player speed.
Doing that and uploading it to Elite for others to play actually sounds like a ton of fun.
