Apple’s popular GarageBand iOS app has been updated to version 1.1, the company said today, bringing with it iPhone and iPod touch support at just $4.99. Now all of you budding musicians can experience the breakthrough music creation app in an even more portable form factor, wherever you go.
The update will also offer users the ability to create custom chords for Smart instruments, as well as support for 6/8 and 3/4 time signatures.
For those unfamiliar with the iOS version of GarageBand, the app makes it easy for beginners and virtuosos to create, record and mix their own original content on-the-go through a collection of Touch instruments. In addition, users have the ability to plug an electric guitar into their iPhone, iPod touch and iPad to conveniently play and record music anywhere.
GarageBand on iPad has been a big hit and we think customers will love using it on their iPhone or iPod touch, said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. The innovative Multi-Touch interface combined with Smart Instruments makes it easy to create great sounding music, even if you’ve never studied music or played an instrument before.
