Invitations emblazoned with the Nook logo have been sent out by Barnes & Noble for an event being held on November 7. “Please join us for a very special announcement,” the invite says. TechnoBuffalo will be at the event to see what, exactly, the special announcement is. Perhaps a new Nook tablet that’s been rumored to hit?
The invite runs in conjunction with an article we posted only a few days ago, saying that the company was readying their stores for a revamped Nook. According to the post, Barnes & Noble is taking the new product announcement very seriously, going so far as doubling the size of Nook boutiques in stores.
With the Kindle Fire release just around the corner, Barnes & Noble will want to do everything it can to draw attention away from Amazon’s hotly anticipated tablet. Pre-orders for the Fire started late September and, if internal leaks are to be believed, the Fire could wind up being one of the best selling tablets ever.
No specs or any indication of what we can expect were included with the Barnes & Noble invitation, but I think it’s safe to say a fierce Kindle Fire competitor is on the horizon from the book retailer. The event should be called, “Don’t buy a Kindle Fire.”
