Weekly Gaming Poll: Single Player or Multiplayer?

by Joey Davidson | October 28, 2011

Welcome to this brand-spankin’-new TechnoBuffalo feature we’re going to try and run once every week. We’ve got ourselves an outstanding, talkative community and we’re looking to harness that and spur it along with a weekly debate topic.

So, every Friday, I’ll toss up a debatable challenge, you folks will vote and discuss. I’ll also be posting the results of the previous week’s poll with a little editorialization.

If you’re curious about the opus for this week’s poll, let me break it down…

I love the multiplayer arm of the Battlefield 3 experience. I’ve been with the game since launch, and I’m finding that it’s nearly impossible to walk away from it without wanting to dive in for “just one more round.” It’s addictive, rewarding and well designed.

But, man oh man, I hate the single player, campaign component. Wowsers. I loved the over-the-top, bombastic nature of Battlefield: Bad Company 2‘s campaign. This game? Snooze-town. And I’m not the only critic that feels that way. Most reviewers out there have blasted the campaign mode for Battlefield 3, but said the multiplayer mode makes the game worth owning.

That brings us to this week’s poll centered around single player and multiplayer preference.

However, like every week, let’s take a quick look at the results from last week’s poll first.

Mario by a wide margin, it seems. Ten-year-old me just yelled “slam dunk!” Don’t worry, he did so while admiring the part in his hair on the way down to putting his sandals on over his socks. Yeesh.

The TechnoBuffalo crowd favors the plumber over the speedster. I’m not surprised. Had this poll been done when Sonic games were still amazing, I think we may have actually seen the results tip towards love for him instead of Mario. Nintendo‘s main line over Mario games remain strong…Sonic?

They’ve been getting better.

On to this week’s question!

I split the poll into three categories: single player, competitive multiplayer and cooperative multiplayer. Choose wisely!
