DICE and EA have sent out an email containing six new screenshots for the upcoming Battlefield 3 DLC, Back to Karkand. This expansion content has been hyped up and talked about for months now, so its release comes as no surprise whatsoever.
Within the release was a description of exactly what players will be getting if they pick up this pack once it launches:
Utilizing the power of Frostbite 2, the Back to Karkand Expansion Pack, remasters four of the greatest Battlefield maps in the franchise; Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Peninsula with enhanced levels of destruction. In addition, this expansion pack includes five new dog tags, five new achievements/trophies, three new vehicles (DPV, BTR-90, F-35B STOVL jet fighter), 10 iconic Battlefield weapons and a new persistence system where players complete assignments to earn their rewards.
I’m most excited about the return of Wake Island. The Back to Karkand version of this classic map is set to be much darker and rundown than it ever has been before. The last time I played the locale was during Battlefield 1943. Guess what, it was absolutely gorgeous then … seeing it in Battlefield 3 should be outstanding.
If you pre-ordered the limited edition of Battlefield 3, you’ll have already earned the code to receive Back to Karkand for free once it releases in December. According to the pack instructions, the code that you use to get online with the game will also unlock your right to this extra content.
For everyone else, Back to Karkand will sell for an unannounced price. The DLC will release for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms in December. That gives you the rest of October and all of November to get tired of all the content that shipped with Battlefield 3. Good luck, there’s a ton of stuff to unlock.
