In this weekly column, we’ll be selecting inexpensive, discarded titles from still playable consoles for your perusal. They may be games you’ve heard of and remember playing, or they may be games that have flown completely off of your radar. Just know that we love them and they’re available on the cheap. That’s a bonafide win/win situation.
If you have any favorite titles that you consider hidden gems, let us know in the comments below and we might feature your pick in the weekly column.
Earth Defense Force 2017
Platform: Xbox 360
Original Release: 2007
Buy this game and it will be the crown jewel of your collection. Oh, it’s terrible… but it’s terrible in all the right ways. A bad story, cheesy dialogue and really odd design choices pile up on one side, while exceptionally fun gameplay and unintentional laughs adorn the other.
This is a game for people that love cheese. It’s the type of fun that can’t be explained, but, once achieved, is perfect. Earth Defense Force 2017 is perfect. There. I said it.
You know what? Here…
You’ll play Earth Defense Force 2017 without wiping the smile off of your face once, and you’ll love it for that. This Xbox 360 exclusive is actually hard to find brand new at a reasonable price. You can, however, land it used for less than $20. Grab a few friends, some beers (if you’re of age, of course) and take a weekend evening to plow through this game.
