Is There an iPad 3 On The Way Soon?

by Emily Price | October 22, 2011

The iPhone 4S is out, so it’s time for the iPad rumor train to kick back into action. According to a “reliable Asian source” Japanese site Macotakara claims that Apple is working on a new iPad 3, with plans to start production on the tablet in January is preparation for a March release.

Beyond the speculation that Apple is working on the next-generation of the tablet (a fact we all could have probably guessed), Macotakara doesn’t have a whole lot of details about what we can expect in the update, except that Apple may be opting for a smaller dock connector on the tablet, although the port will use the same electricity specification and 30-pin input as the current model.

Below are some images of ribbon cables said to be used in the iPad 3’s prototype construction:

What do you think? Are you ready for the iPad 3 rumors to start? What kind of updates would you like to see in the next generation of the tablet?
