Uncharted 3 Gets Discounted DLC Pre-order Club

Much like Rockstar’s Pass, Sony has announced that they will be offering gamers their own way to save money on post-launch content for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Today, on the PlayStation Blog, Mick Perona, Associate Product Marketing Manager for Sony Computer Entertainment of America, announced the Uncharted 3 Fortune Hunter’s Club.

Basically, the Fortune Hunter’s Club is something players buy into before the launch of Uncharted 3. For almost $25, fans will become Fortune Hunter’s Club members and be able to snag all of the post-launch content Sony and Naughty Dog have planned for Uncharted 3.

The benefit here is not that you’ll be pre-ordering digital content or become a member of some fake, goofy club; instead, it’s that you will be saving $20 on DLC you would normally have purchased for $45. Currently, there are seven multiplayer packs planned for release under Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Those packs will cost just over $45. You’ll be landing all of that content, as it launches, for the initial cost of the Fortune Hunter’s Club membership: $25.

That said, these types of passes are really only good for diehard fans. If you are a gamer that may not be familiar with Uncharted‘s multiplayer, it might not be smart to pony up $25 now in order to snag all seven packs. Sure, if you love it, you’ll be saving a good bit of scratch on all the content; however, if you hate it, you’ll have wasted nearly $20 on your pre-order.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will launch for the PlayStation 3 on November 1st. The third entry in Naughty Dog‘s critically acclaimed franchise has garnered itself a large wave of commercial hype. Hopefully, it lives up to the pre-emptive love and delivers a game well worth owning. More than that, for fans that may want to purchase season pass equivalent, let’s hope the multiplayer is spectacular.
