This roughly four minute clip provides Mass Effect fans a chance to understand the freshly announced multiplayer arm of the upcoming Mass Effect 3. BioWare‘s “Pulse” features an exclusive interview with Casey Hudson, Executive Producer for the Mass Effect Franchise, as he details a good portion of the decision to include multiplayer and a little bit of what it’s like.
The big things to take away from his discussion are that the single player portion of Mass Effect 3 remains intact and that the multiplayer will be cooperative only. These two prongs of this multiplayer addition are, in the books of most fans, what makes this news okay. Competitive multiplayer would have felt weird in the Mass Effect universe; however, cooperative play makes sense.
The other great news here is that players will finally be able to experience the game’s happenings through the eyes of more than just the human race. If you want to, for example, play a Krogan Soldier, you can do that. And, let’s be honest with ourselves, who here wouldn’t want to play a Krogan Soldier?
We, as fans of the Mass Effect series in general, only find that one looming question remains un-answered. This franchise is known for the great character relationships players gradually form throughout the games. Now, if some of your squadmates are fellow human players, what happens to your chances of engaging in romantic activities?
Look, we’re just asking the questions that demand asking!
