Still Not Convinced You’ll Use Siri? Watch This

Now that we’re coming into the final stretch before the iPhone 4S is released, photos, videos and even a few benchmarks have begun to trickle online by people who have received their shipments ahead of October 14. Earlier today we were treated to a nice video by Stuff.tv that demonstrated a few of Siri’s many abilities out in real world conditions – currency exchanges, temperatures and alarms setups. Now we have a much more thorough video from one lucky YouTube user that features the depth of Siri’s knowledge along with a few oddball questions for good measure. Conclusion? Siri is looking more and more impressive by the day.

The video begins with what we’ve come to expect from Apple’s newest technology: Weather, location and time questions all handled with ease. But we’re then introduced to Siri’s (and Apple’s) lighter side. When Siri is asked, “How old are you?” she answers, “I’m not allowed to answer that question.” Further into the video the user bluntly states, “I love you,” to which Siri replies, “I hope you don’t say that to your other mobile phones, [NAME].” Not all casual questions thrown Siri’s way are programed into the technology, however. When asked, “Can we be friends?” Siri says that she cannot understand the question. But that’s not a deal breaker, now is it? My phone and I have a love/hate relationship.

It’s nice to see the technology so many users were unsure about out in the wild. While we already knew it could perform simple tasks, it’s interesting to see just how deep Apple has made the experience for its users, even when you ask it useless questions.

Do you think, after seeing Siri out in the wild, you can see yourself using it?
