RIM Stocks Rise Amidst Vodafone Rumor

Research In Motion HeadquartersDespite dwindling interest among consumers in comparison to Android, Apple and Windows Mobile, Research In Motion has seen their stock rise – up 14% – over the past few days amidst rumors that U.K. carrier Vodafone is interested in acquiring the Waterloo-based company.

There is still an incredibly passionate RIM fan base, so the company is still valued in many markets. The company could be on a potential rebound with upcoming playbook reductions and some QNX-based devices slated to hit in 2012, while others are less confident because of less than stellar second quarter earnings. And while it’s unclear where the initial rumor originated from, after seeing such a rise in stock, it’s probably all the same to RIM at this point.
