While many had been hopeful, nothing official had been said as of yet about Sprint keeping their unlimited data in place for the iPhone. The mystery has now been solved, and it has been confirmed that the Now Network will indeed be offering its unlimited data plan to iPhone 4S users.
Speaking with AllThingsD, Sprint spokeswoman Michelle Leff Mermelstein said, “We will be offering the benefit of our unlimited plans that start at just $69.99.” For thos unfamiliar with Sprint’s plans, the $69.99 plan includes unlimited data, 450 calling minutes and unlimited mobile-to-mobile. You can get unlimited calling included in the plan for a total of $99 a month.
As many may remember, AT&T used to offer unlimited data for the iPhone, but after too much pressure was exerted on their network, they stopped allowing new customers to choose that option. When asked about any concerns they had, Mermelstein said, “We have every confidence in the ability of our 3G network to handle the influx of devices we expect to get. It certainly hasn’t been an issue to date.”
Considering that it is said Sprint has essentially bet the company on this product, it isn’t too surprising they went with this decision. Now it’s just time to see if it pays off in enough new customers coming over to them from the limitations put on them by AT&T and Verizon.
Does this tempt you at all to move your iPhone service to Sprint?
