HTC Sensation XE Unboxing (Video)

Show some love for the European Buffalos! HTC was kind enough to send me an unlocked Sensation XE to check out. Why? Partially because I drooled over it when I hung out with HTC PR last week in Seattle, but mainly because while it’s not available in the US, Sensation XE is available in other parts of the world and HTC knows how the international Buffalos roll. Wow, I just said “Buffalo” a lot.

Sensation XE is similar to Sensation, which is available via T-Mobile USA, but adds a few new features to the mix. Namely you get a beefed up dual-core processor, beats audio technology in the phone, beats audio earbuds in the box, and a darker color scheme with red accents and a big red beats logo on the back. I’m gonna be honest with you: I was seduced by the murdered-out black on black on red paint job long before I knew about the XE’s dual-core Snapdragon chipset. This phone looks sick. They shoulda called it “Da Chronic,” given the Dr Dre connection.

That said, the step up to a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU processor – backed by an Adreno 220 GPU – is far more important to XE’s longevity as a “multimedia superphone” (HTC’s words) than its snazzy look. Given the large number of pixels being pushed around the phone’s 4.7-inch, 960 x 540 (qHD) display and the 3D effects baked into HTC Sense 3.0 (which runs atop Android 2.3.4), the more horsepower under the hood the better.

There’s no doubt I’m smitted by XE’s sleek good looks. Time to get it out of the box and see if the love lasts once I power this beast up.
