Minecraft Getting Item Enchantments

Minecraft 1.8 saw the addition of experience orbs and a leveling bar. Minecraft 1.9, as it’s slowly being updated and released, features uses for all of that experience and leveling. You’re earning experience points now, and those points will go towards things like stat raising.

However, new to the pile of Minecraft features will be enchanting. What you see up top is a recent picture Tweeted by Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson. Notch was explaining the addition of enchantments to the game and decided to drop the image above on his unsuspecting followers. It is of an enchantment table. Here’s Notch:

Working on Item Enchantments. It costs experience points. It’s totally random. It has three tiers. What does an enchantment table look like?

Then, boom, the picture. Notch continued regarding the new feature:

How does enchanting work in Minecraft? Well, you open a magical book and pick a random spell, not quite sure knowing what it will do. MAGIC!

Magic. Indeed.

Notch did not indicate when this new feature would be coming, so expect it to be lumped in with another upcoming release. Which one? Who knows. They’re always doing crazy stuff in Minecraft.

We’ll have more on the updates as it comes.
