T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II Hands-On

What do dimly lit rooms, lasers, Hyde from That 70’s Show, and T-Mobile’s brand spanking new Samsung Galaxy S II have in common? They were all at a party last night hosted by T-Mobile.

I was at the event as well and managed to score a little time with device and a few pictures.

The Samsung Galaxy S II was officially announced yesterday at Mobilize in San Francisco. The handset is T-Mobile’s own special flavor of the Galaxy S II line and is rocking the largest screen of any of the Galaxy S II variants (4.52-inches). The handset is definitely a noticeable amount larger than the original T-Mobile Galaxy S (check out some side-by-side shots below), but the Super AMOLED Plus screen is sexy enough even later screen haters may be willing to make an exception for the handset, which while it has a huge screen is super-thin at only 9.4mm thick.

Spec-wise you’re looking at a 1.5GHz dual-core processor running Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. The handset will be running on T-Mobile HSPA+ 42 network, has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2-megapixel forward-facing camera and will come packing 16GB of built-in memory expandable up to
48GB with a 32GB microSD memory card.

The thin design coupled with the fast processor and Super AMOLED Plus screen make the Galaxy S II definitely a lust-worthy handset. Check out some pictures from the dark laser-filled room below.

You can pick up your own Galaxy S II from T-Mobile starting October 10th for $229.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate. What do you think? Anyone planning on grabbing one of these next week?
