T-Mobile Announces HTC Radar 4G with Windows Phone 7 Mango

Don’t get too excited: it’s not out yet, and the closest thing to a ship date we have is, “In time for the holidays.” That said, get excited: Mango is coming, and it’s bringing 4G and aluminum unibody construction with it.

T-Mobile today announced the HTC Radar 4G, the carrier’s first 4G (HSPA+ 14.4) Windows Phone device, and also the first to ship with Windows Phone 7 Mango. The phone will feature a 3.8-inch, 800 x 480 (WVGA) LCD display with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor under the hood. Media-wise, Radar will come packing a 5MP camera with LED flash and 720p video capture, front-facing VGA camera, and 8GB of onboard storage. Software-wise, you’ll find the new IE9 Web browser along with MS Office Hub and Exchange support.

Looking all sleek and sexy in white aluminum – at least in the press photo – Radar’s got me excited for the next generation of WP7. I’ve spent some time recently with HTC’s Arrive (for Sprint), and was reminded of how visually appealing Windows Phone’s Metro design language is. A few key holes in operating system held me back, though, from really considering the platform for daily use. Mango promises to plug those holes and then some, so Radar 4G and its tropical fruit-flavored brethren can’t come soon enough, if you ask me.

Okay, forget not getting excited yet. Get excited! Who’s excited? C’mon, I know you’re out there!
