Batman: Arkham City Gets Joker Trailer

MTV Multiplayer secured an exclusive trailer highlighting one of Batman: Arkham City‘s secondary villains: the Joker. Dr. Hugo Strange may be taking the lead for Batman’s rogues gallery in Rocksteady and Warner Bros. upcoming release, but the Joker still earns a nice spot in the game … and a nice trailer to boot.

Mark Hamill is, of course, reprising his role as the Joker. We wouldn’t have it any other way. Ever since the Batman animated series had its run in the 90s, we can’t imagine anyone else speaking Joker’s lines in nearly as wicked a way. Hamill has the ability to make your skin crawl as the Joker, and that seems like it remains intact throughout this portrayal.

MTV Multiplayer was also kind enough to run down the list of villains that have been confirmed to be making an appearance in Arkham City once it releases. Now, some people would label this a spoiler, so be warned. Here’s who we know will be in this game so far:

  • The Joker
  • The Riddler
  • Poison Ivy
  • Harley Quinn
  • Victor Zsaz
  • Jack Rider
  • Bane
  • Catwoman (as a playable character)
  • Hugo Strange
  • Two-Face
  • Penguin
  • Mr. Freeze
  • Talia al Ghul
  • Calender Man
  • Solomon Grundy
  • Deadshot

If Deadshot is handled by Rocksteady even remotely as well as he was by Gail Simone with Secret Six, he may stand a chance at being one of my favorite villains in the game. Comic nerds everywhere should be nodding in agreement right now.

Of course, fans such as myself are hoping Rocksteady hasn’t revealed everyone just yet. I’d love to boot up the game and find folks I never would have imagined waiting for me in the shadows of Gotham, wouldn’t you?

Batman: Arkham City is set to release for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 18th. It was announced earlier this week that the Microsoft Windows version will not be shipping for PC gamers until November; though a specific date has not been hammered down.
