Former vice-president Al Gore holds a position on the Apple board of directors, which means he more than likely is privy to more information than most people when it comes to new products from the popular company. So when he makes an off-hand comment about new “iPhones” coming in October, people tend to stand up and take notice.
Toby Shapshak, the editor of Stuff Magazine, informed The Next Web that Mr. Gore said today at the Discovery Invest Leadership Summit said, “Not to mention the new iPhones coming out next month. That was a plug.” He did not offer any clarification beyond that, but that was enough to set everyone into a frenzy figuring out what he meant.
Since he distinctly used the plural form of iPhone, one has to speculate did he mean one model of iPhone with different sizes, or did he mean distinctly different models? There has been speculation of both an iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 coming this year, but nothing has been confirmed.
There is also every chance that he just misspoke by using the plural form. It could have been a slip of the tongue, or he may have meant something as innocent as white and black versions. We’ll just have to wait for Apple to announce t (hopefully on October 4).
What do you think Al Gore meant?
