HTC Rhyme Gets Official, Coming To Verizon September 29 For $199.99

HTC has gotten official with its female-friendly handset, the HTC Rhyme. Previously known as the HTC Bliss, the Android handset’s biggest claim to fame is its LED-infused charm that lets owners know they are receiving a notification. The basic idea being that you can see you’ve received an email, text, or other notification without digging through a cluttered bag to find your handset. The phone also comes bundled with a bedside docking station and tangle-free headphones, with a Bluetooth headset and arm sportsband also available specifically for the handset.

The handset will be available September 29 for $199.99, will coming running Gingerbread on a 3.7”WVGA display, and will have a 5-megapixel camera for snapping pics while you’re on the go.

As a girl, I’m not entirely convinced there’s a need for a “female-focused” handset. If I really need to girl-up my phone (which I don’t) I can buy a case for it covered in hearts and ponies.

What do you think? Is the world ready for a purple handset with a flashy notifications dongle? Anyone planning on nabbing one of these later this month?
