Verizon Introducing $50 Unlimited Plan

Verizon Wireless is set to launch a new $50 per month Unlimited plan this week. According the the Wall Street Journal the plan will be available in select markets in Verizon stores as well as Walmart, Target, and Best Buy locations.

The current unlimited plan on Verizon costs a whopping $94.99 per month, making the $50 prepaid plan a substantial discount.

“This is a very competitive market, and we want to make sure we have a price portfolio to fit a greater number of customers,” Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Brenda Raney said. “In these times there are some people who would prefer living on a prepaid plan.”

No matter what your phone plan is currently, chances are a $50 prepaid unlimited plan may be an improvement. The downside of a prepaid plan, of course, being that you can’t buy handsets at a subsidized rate; however, more and more handsets have started to become available unlocked or as a prepaid option.

Do any of you use a prepaid phone now? Would you use a $50 Unlimited prepaid plan from Verizon if its available in your area?
