Color us curious, but could this be the first test photo from an unknown phone being called the Droid RAZR?
PocketNow stumbled across the image you see to the right that had EXIF data claiming that it was taken by a Motorola Droid RAZR, a phone that hasn’t been mentioned even in whispers. One photo of the actual phone did leak out, but all it showed was the back of the device and has since been removed from sites due to a request from Motorola Mobility.
The idea that the RAZR name could come back isn’t exactly an insane one. The original model went on to be the best selling clamshell phone of all time, moving over 140 million units. It was actually the success of that phone, as well as the RAZR 2 that made Motorola a little late to the touchscreen party as they were getting by on such huge sales. The RAZR name is known and loved by many, so bringing it back in this day and age, and attaching it to the popular Droid name, may not be such a bad idea.
We have no clue if this is real as EXIF data can be faked, but combined with the pulled image, it’s looking fairly likely that at some point in the not so distant future we’ll be discussing the specs and looks of a (presumably) thin phone known as the Droid RAZR.
What do you think about Motorola resurrecting this old brand name?
