Not only is it faster than its predecessor with a whopping 1.5GHz dual-core processor — up from 1.2GHz — but it also boasts four times more internal storage, and a bigger 1,730mAh battery. It’s also the company’s first device to feature Beats by Dr. Dre audio technology.
Elsewhere, the Sensation XE retains some of the internals seen in the existing Sensation:
HTC Sensation XE Specs
- Android Gingerbread
- 4.3-inch Super LCD display
- 1.5GHz dual-core processor
- 768MB of RAM
- 4GB internal storage
- microSD expansion up to 32GB
- 8-megapixel rear-facing camera
- VGA front-facing camera
- 1,730mAh battery
The Sensation XE also features a built-in remote control that lets you take control of your Beats audio playback. HTC’s president of global sales and marketing, Jason Mackenzie, believes the new Sensation offers customers the best possible mobile experience:
“The audio quality is a very important factor in mobile sound experience and we are working to push the boundaries not only for speech reception, but also for music, video and games up fully. The HTC sensation XE delivers a truly incredible audio experience and is a further proof that we want to offer customers the best possible mobile experience.”
There are a few areas in which I would have liked to see a bit more improvement with the Sensation, such as 1GB of RAM as opposed to just 768MB, a better front-facing camera, and even more internal storage. However, I believe the Beats audio technology more than makes up for these very minor shortfalls.
The HTC Sensation XE will first launch in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific — beginning late September. The device will cost €589 (approx. $806/£510).
