This GTA IV Mod Will Probably Blow Your Mind (Video)

If this is where gaming tech is headed, sign me up. Sure, the character models still look a bit rough, but the environment, lighting, detail and clarity? Yeesh.

This is a mod for Grand Theft Auto IV on the PC. It’s Gionight’s ENB, and it is a mod meant to take the world of GTA IV and make it into a realistic recreation of New York City. And, well, wow, it worked. Make sure you crank the video up to full resolution, assuming you’re on a device and connection that both support the feature, and take in the sights.

One has to wonder if Rockstar Games, developer of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, pays attention to the modding community for potentially hires. If that’s the case, these folks may have a shot.

If you’re a PC gamer and you have a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV, you can actually download the mod and give it a go for yourself. Do that here.

Kotaku has it from the mod’s creator that, despite the stunning look above, this project isn’t much of a drag on resources.

Introduce smell into this realism equation and we’ve got a problem.
