While it isn’t a picture of the actual iPhone 5, the image you see above of a plate of sushi appears to have been taken with the long-delayed phone’s camera.
According to PocketNow that discovered the image, the embedded EXIF data says it was taken by an iPhone 4, but beyond that the information doesn’t match up. You can see the original file for yourself by following that link if you wish to check out all the data on your own. The original file came in at 3264×2448, or close to that of an image taken with an 8-megapixel camera. The lens was also shown to be a 4.3mm f/2.4, which differs from the iPhone 4’s 3.85mm f/2.8.
While it is always possible that there is something tripping all this up and giving us bad data, but to add fuel to the fire, the photo is rumored to have been taken by an Apple engineer while eating his lunch at work. The mystery deepens.
What do you think? Are we looking at the first test photo from the iPhone 5?
