The Battlefield 3 Physical Warfare Pack Gameplay Trailer

We’ve already posted a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer gameplay trailer, so it’s a good thing DICE released this one for Battlefield 3 in order to balance the scoreboard. Whether you’re a staunch supporter of one product over the other or not, you have to admit that the two games are looking massively different.

The weapons and gear shown above and available to the Physical Warfare Pack, which you can only snag by pre-ordering the game at specific retailers or Origin, are detailed by EA:

Physical Warfare Pack contains the DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun, Type 88 Light Machine Gun, flechette ammo for the DAO-12, and a flash suppressor for the SKS sniper rifle.

This is a retailer-specific preorder bonus pack I support, for once…

Typically, the idea that publishers make gamers choose which store to purchase their games from based on which exclusive content they’ll receive makes me cringe. It’s a tactic that makes it impossible for die-hard fans to experience every bit of the game, unless they pre-order and buy the product from multiple locations.

However, the pack you see trailered above forĀ Battlefield 3 will eventually be unlocked and made free for everyone. When? Well, later. But the important part is that it’s coming. News of that came after fans found out about the pack and reacted accordingly. EA quickly clarified that it would eventually be free for everyone, which quieted the would-be rioters.

Battlefield 3 is set to release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms on October 25th in the States. We expect that around the same time a slew of fans from both theĀ Call of Duty and Battlefield camps will be gearing up for a war of words and expletives all their own.

Joy.

Until then, let’s hear it, what do you think of the gameplay shown off in the footage above?
