Zelda: Skyward Sword Bundles Soundtrack, Gold Wii MotionPlus

Starting with The Legend of Zelda for the original Nintendo Entertainment System, golden cartridges have been the reward for snagging a copy of the game early. Popping open the box back in the day and finding a uniquely colored game cartridge to jam into your home console was, in the nerdiest way possible, thrilling.

Then came disc-based media. Golden discs? Not so awesome.

Nintendo has found a way to get us geeks lusting for gold once more with the newly announced, limited edition of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Pick it up and you’ll be snagging everything you see above.

The news came by way of press release from Nintendo this morning. Here’s the full rundown when it comes to bundle pricing and the special controller.

The limited-edition gold controller bundle for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be offered at a suggested retail price of $69.99. The game will also be sold separately at a suggested retail price of $49.99, though the gold controller will only be available as part of the special bundle.

If you watched Nintendo’s E3 conference back in June, then you already know that the company is focusing on the musical side of the Zelda brand as a part of celebrating its 25th anniversary. They’ll be delivering that aspect of the Zelda universe with every copy of the original shipment of Skyward Sword. From the same release:

As an additional 25th anniversary treat for fans who purchase the game early, every copy in the initial production, whether sold by itself or as a part of the limited-edition bundle, will come with a free CD featuring select orchestral arrangements of iconic music spanning the history of the franchise which will be performed at The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concert performances in October 2011.

Zelda fans, get your gold on.

Will any of you be dropping the extra $20 for a gold, Wii MotionPlus controller? Or, does that price point seem a bit too steep?

If it were up to me, I’d bundle a Link figurine along with the package to make fans get all crazy with desire.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will launch for the Wii on November 20th.
