It seems that Microsoft is going to try to get everyone excited about the concept about slates/tablets running their software once again.  The company has gone down this road before without the greatest of results, but it has already been announced that Windows 8 is being designed with the idea of it being run on multiple form factors.  It seems that the Big M really wants to get this across to developers and may be prepping a quad-core slate to be given away at an upcoming event.

Shown off at the TechEd 2011 conference in New Zealand this week, not much was said about the device according to SmartGeek.info, but This Is My Next says that the information lines up with rumors they have heard of a Windows 8 tablet to be given to developers at the BUILD conference in early Sept.  While no exact details are known on the specs, we may be looking at the first tablet designed specifically with Windows 8 in mind.

The idea of one OS for so many different form factors makes me wonder about scaling issues when it comes to horsepower, but it is also offset by the concept I could move seamlessly from one device to another is a pretty enticing one.

What do you think of the concept of a quad-core Windows 8 tablet?
