NYC’s Grand Central Apple Store In Pictures

by Emily Price | August 16, 2011August 16, 2011 9:15 am PDT

Wonder what an Apple Store might look like in Grand Central?

The MTA has released a few images of what Grand Central Terminal’s Apple Store is expected to look like when it finally opens its doors. Apple recently leased the space in Grand Central from the MTA, taking over a location previously occupied by Charlie Palmer’s Metrazur restaurant.

Apple will be paying $800k per year for the space in rent (almost three times as much as the previous tenant) for the first years it occupies the space, the rent rising to over a million if it decides to stay after those 10 years are up.

I personally really like that Apple appears to be planning to work an Apple Store into the existing space, rather than change what the space naturally looks like. If the store opens looking like the renderings, it will certainly be a unique Apple Store location.

What do you think of the pictures?
