Sure, Batman: Arkham City may be getting a lot of love and coverage from magazines, shows and sites all over the gaming press industry. And Rocksteady‘s sequel seems to deserve every inch of treatment its received. But here stands this wacky multiplayer shooter from Monolith Games, getting rather overlooked by a core of gamers that would positively love it otherwise.
I had a chance to take Gotham City Impostors for a spin during E3 this past June. I walked up to the preview queue expecting, quite honestly, utter garbage. That may seem calloused, but an FPS in the Batman universe doesn’t make sense to this long time lover of the comics and flicks.
That said, I’m happy to report that I walked away from my more than 30 minute demo with a huge grin on my face. Gotham City Impostors is a fast, high-flying, brutal, hilarious objective based shooter. Players play either clowns below Joker or Batman Impostors. You’ll glide, set traps, bounce and unleash all sorts of mayhem on your enemies. Like I said, it’s a blast.
Now, according to the recently released trailer above, Gotham City Impostors is also looking to take on praise for being insanely customizable. Every shirt, hat, cape, wing, boot and whatever else looks like it can be switch, flipped, flopped or ditched. We’ll take that, for sure.
Gotham City Impostors is set to release sometime in 2012 for the Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC as a downloadable title. It’ll be fast, fun, crazy and relatively inexpensive. I suggest you check it out.
