Qriocity Video Streaming Service Coming To Xperia Handsets

Sony’s Qriocity video service is on its way to Xperia devices. Starting August 1 Xperia mini and mini Pro owners will be able to rent movies and television shows from “NBC, Universal International Television Distribution, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution as well as local studios.”

The service will be available initially only on the mini and mini Pro in the US, France, Canada, Germany, Spain, UK, and Australia with support coming to Japan by the end of August and to other Xperia handsets such as the Xperia arc, Xperia neo, Xperia PLAY, Xperia pro, and Xperia acro through a software upgrade later this year.

If you have one of the included phones, then the service will automatically appear on your handset through a software upgrade. The video application will also be available for download from the Android Market.
