The 3D phone market is a very small world thus far, but that isn’t stopping a second contender from entering the fray.
Announced earlier this year, the LG Thrill 4G is finally making its debut in the United States in the coming weeks for $99 (with two-year agreement) on AT&T. This is the first 3D phone for the carrier, but it’s still unclear just how many people are even that excited about the potential of their phone to take images in the third dimension or display content to them that way while mobile. Is the marketplace big enough for both the HTC EVO 3D and the LG Thrill 4G? I guess we’re about to find out.
Ignoring the 3D part of the equation on the Thrill, this is still a pretty good phone, although we’re a bit puzzled by the decision to go with Android 2.2 Froyo as opposed to Android 2.3 Gingerbread at this point in the game. It will be receiving an update at some point, there has been no date announced as of yet. Besides that, $99 for a phone in this range seems like a sweet deal.
