The saga of the Droid Bionic has turned into something akin to a soap opera: It shows up at CES 2011, then we hear it’s dead and then there’s a mysterious spotting at the FCC. All we’re missing is it’s evil twin to show up in town and shock everyone.
Well, now it’s showing more life than it has in a long time as Amazon decided to post accessories for it. Both a car dock and desktop dock have appeared on the online retailer, although you can only sign up to be notified of when they become available at this point in time.
UPDATE: Amazon has pulled the listings and they now give you a missing page error.
Considering the display is clearly a Droid display, it’s obvious it has to be another member of the family that is “COMING SOON!”, and about the only one it could be would be the Droid Bionic unless there is a mystery phone out there we haven’t heard about yet.
I’m not sure why this release has turned into such an ordeal, but hopefully it will be worth it. The Bionic looked like a pretty sweet phone when we saw it back in Jan., but that is closing in on seven months ago. At the time it was running Android 2.2, can we now hope for 2.3 Gingerbread? We heard some rumors that it might get an update prior to release due to the delays, but there were certainly no guarantees of that.
Hopefully all of this evidence points to the Droid Bionic finally hitting store shelves, but for now we’re still very much in a wait and see mode.
What do you think? Are you still excited for the Bionic?
