Smart Cover Clone Pulled From Samsung Stores

What’s one thing you don’t need when you’re in the middle of a court case trying to prove your tablet is nothing like an iPad? A tablet cover that is a blatant copy (even down to the name) of Apple’s Smart Cover wrapped around your tablet.

The Anynod Smart Case hit the web yesterday, and was being sold in Samsung retail stores in Korea. There’s no denying that the case looks almost identical to Apple’s Smart Cover. Samsung promptly removed the case from its stores and posted a statement on the Samsung Tomorrow Blog:

As a general practice, Samsung Electronics reviews and approves all accessories produced by partners before they are given the “Designed for Samsung Mobile” mark.

In this case, approval was not given to Anymode for the accessory to feature this official designation.  We are working with Anymode to address this oversight and the product has already been removed from the Anymode sales website.  The product has not been sold.

Check out some additional pictures of the case below.

What do you think is going to happen in Apple’s case against Samsung? Do you think these photos are going to make their way into the courtroom?
